Floriane Spencer Fricard

​​Floriane is a Teaching Fellow and final year Ph.D. Candidate in French, with a focus on Visual Media and Trans* Philosophy, at the University of Pittsburgh. She obtained anMaster’s Degree in Francophone Studies from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Languages, Literatures, and Civilizations (with an anglophone specialization) from the Université de Limoges, France (her homecountry!).

In March 2025, they'll be releasing Chez Lonia, a trans* uplifting podcast that seeks to platform and celebrate trans*, non-binary, gender queer academics, professionals, artists, and creatives in Anglo- and Francophone contexts. The podcast is part of a larger conglomerate of projects brought together and made possible via the Ten:Tacles Initiative (The Transgender Educational Network: Theory in Action, Creativity, Liberation, Empowerment, and Service) directed by Dr. Susan Stryker, which aims “for social change activism rooted in humanities-based Transgender Studies” and “promulgates accurate narratives about trans* and non-binary lives at a time of increasingly consequential disinformation about these communities,” and made possibe in collaboration with San Francisco’s GLBT Historical Society, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
